The 10 best health hacks for a super energy boost that lasts a life time.
Where does our energy come from? It's a mix of mind and body. Even if your body is exhausted, your mind can overcome that through sheer passion and will power. But... this comes at a cost, every time you put your body into overdrive, you mine more and more of your body's energy reserves until they reach critical levels and that is usually when illness sets in as your immune system doesn't have enough energy anymore to do it's job.
These health hacks focus on body AND mind. The 2 components you need to replenish your energy levels.
1. Daily gratitude [Mind power]
We live in an exciting age of scientific breakthroughs. Where before, the common belief was that our brain was fixed once we hit a certain age, now... neuroplasticity has opened the doors to true brain empowerment where you hold the key to your thoughts and emotions. A simple technique to slowly shift your thoughts towards the positive spectrum is to focus on what you are grateful for. Every night, before you go to sleep, you commit to finding 3 things in your day that you can be grateful for.
As an example, the weather might be abominable and dreary but that doesn't mean you can't find anything to be grateful for. The rain creates more oxygen, the rain makes everything look refreshed and green, it helps the flowers grow. So there is beauty in that. No matter what happens in life, you can find silver lining or even the sun behind the clouds. You just have to commit to looking for it.
You'll notice that the more you do this, the easier it will become to find positivity.
2. Positive affirmations [Mind power]
Positive affirmation follow the same logic as gratitudes, the create a habit of positivity, this time, about how you feel about yourself. Energy comes from within, if you do not believe in yourself, you will lack energy and drive.
Positive affirmations train your brain to see and eventually accept a new reality.
Most of us know our internal critical voice, the voice that tells you that you are not good enough, not strong enough, not beautiful enough, not worthy enough.
But remember, that internal critical voice is part of you... it was formed by you, so it can be changed by you.
Positive affirmations help you transform that inner critic into an inner cheerleader.
3. Gluten-free [Body Detox]
Gluten-free might be a hype, but if you suffer from mind fog, bloating and fatigue, a lot of people have seen incredible results from completely cutting out gluten. There is no half way house with gluten, you either cut it out completely or you won't see the benefits. If you can manage to cut out gluten for 21 days, those cravings for bread and cakes will become a lot less. A tip for sticking to it, is getting a training buddy, if you both commit to the 21 days and hold each other to account and support each other, you have more chance of succeeding.
Another little tip is to hand a post it note on your fridge and put a tick on it every day you manage to stick to gluten free. If you have a day where you fall of the wagon, throw the post it away and start again. Eventually you won't want to lose your progress and it will help you stick to it.
4. Salt - salt - salt [Body Detox] (warning- side effect may include radiant skin and rejuvination)
No, not the chemical table salt you put on your chips... but the dead sea or himalayan salt that you can add to your bath to enjoy a nice detoxing soak in the tub.
The salt draws the toxins out of your body and increases your body's pH. A lot of diseases need an acid body to thrive, so if you can detox and increase your pH, those diseases don't like it and they are more inclined to leave you alone.
As a nice side effect, your skin will feel as smooth as a baby.
Do remember to have lots of water because the detox can really take it out of you, leaving you with a massive headache. To avoid this, make sure you drink plenty of healthy (not tap) water.
5. Dairy-free [Body Detox]
Dairy is usually listed as a source of Calcium, but you get a lot more calcium out of green vegetables like kale and spinach. Milk and any products created from milk are designed for growth. Baby's drink milk, baby cows drink milk, but they need it to grow quickly. As adults, we don't need this anymore. It will just make our belly grow which is probably not what we are after ;)
6. Sugar-free [Body Detox]
Processed sugar creates an explosion of unhealthy energy which leads to harsh energy crashes. Avoid as much as you can. But if you can't, at least be honest with yourself and monitor the effects it has on you. Notice how it makes you feel immediately after you consume it and then 1 hour later. I bet you'll get those cravings for more... it's a dangerous vicious circle.
7. Proper fuel for the body [Body fuel]
Why do we eat? Out of pleasure and satisfying a craving... that is probably reality for most of us. But at the end of the day, food is there to nourish our body, to keep us strong and healthy. So keep that in mind and make sure you eat plenty of healthy foods, preferably not the tasteless, force grown, filled with pesticides items you find in most supermarkets.
8. Water [Body Fuel]
The main component of out body is water. So make sure you replenish it's stocks as often as you can. But, the same is true for water as for food, find healthy and energized water. Not the kind with added fluoride that you can get out of the tap. Look into water filters and read up on how to energize water. An added benefit is that you'll discover how good healthy water can taste!
9. Let's move [Body Fuel]
If you don't use it, you'll lose it. Our muscles are built to be used, it's how our body is meant to function, food and water go in, muscles consume what comes in and build a strong energized vessel for your mind and spirit. Keep that circle of life alive!
10. Nature [Body and Mind Balance]
Ever notice how amazing you feel when you are on top of a mountain, or in a forest or next to a deep blue sea? Nature is our natural habitat, it's where oxygen is the strongest and where our senses come to life in a natural balance. Find time to walk in nature and enjoy it to the fullest. Walk barefoot in the fresh green grass or on the warm sandy beach and feel the effects!
